Movement Intro February
Explore Movement as a space for Learning and Discovery
What's a Movement Intro?
A Movement Intro is an open workshop designed to introduce you to Movement Searcher practices and to the way we use movement as a tool for learning, development, and awareness. It is not a regular class, nor a traditional workout. It is a guided exploration space where strength, coordination, balance, perception, rhythm, and relationship become concrete means to understand how we learn through the body.
Every Movement Intro Is Different
While the underlying principles remain the same, each Movement Intro is unique. The proposals, games, group dynamics, relationships, and areas of focus change every time. This makes each workshop a distinct experience - whether it’s your first encounter with our work, you’ve already attended a Movement Intro, or you are a regular student of our classes. The practices are inspired by the Feldenkrais Method® and Ido Portal’s Movement Culture, integrating somatic, dynamic, and relational work into an experience that is accessible yet rich in stimulation.
What We Will Explore
During the workshop, we will move through different modes of practice: on the floor, standing, in pairs, and in groups, with and without objects. We will alternate calmer moments with more dynamic ones, exploring:
- groundwork, to improve organization, mobility, and the relationship with gravity
- functional strength and mobility, without rigidity or unnecessary effort
- use of objects, to stimulate adaptability, precision, and motor creativity
- partner and group work, to develop listening, relationship, and reactivity
- rhythm and coordination, to refine responsiveness and timing
- problem-solving games, challenging habitual patterns and automatic strategies
Through these explorations, you will have the opportunity to:
- move with greater fluidity, strength, and functionality
- improve balance, orientation, and body awareness
- develop coordination, adaptability, and decision-making skills
- experience how the nervous system learns through variation, relationship, and play
Every proposal is adaptable. No previous experience or specific physical preparation is required.
Why Participate
The Movement Intro is an opportunity to:
- discover (or rediscover) a different way of moving and learning
- understand what it truly means to learn through movement, rather than just perform exercises
- step outside habitual patterns and expand your range of action
- get to know the Movement Searcher approach before starting or continuing with weekly classes
- if you are already a student, experience new proposals, meet different people, and enrich your practice
- dedicate an afternoon to movement, curiosity, and research - away from routine
A Standalone Experience or Part of a Path
The Movement Intro can be experienced as a standalone workshop, complete in itself, or as part of a broader movement development path. It is an excellent starting point or a deepening experience if you wish to continue with our weekly Movement or Feldenkrais classes, our Online Coaching or Personal Training. Each workshop contributes to building continuity, clarity, and competence in the way you move and relate to change.
