What is a Functional Integration Lesson?
Individual sessions of the Feldenkrais Method are called Functional Integration lessons.
- “Integration” refers to the ability to perceive the connections between body, mind, emotions, and sensations.
- “Functional” reflects the aim of rediscovering the most efficient and harmonious ways to move in daily life.
Using gentle, non-invasive touch, the Feldenkrais practitioner guides the person through a process of somatic learning and self-discovery. Each session is tailored to the individual’s unique needs and physical characteristics.
Why Choose Functional Integration?
Unlike corrective therapies or rigid posture training, Functional Integration is a pathway to expanding self-awareness and movement potential. It’s not about doing movements “correctly,” but about exploring new ways of moving that feel more comfortable, efficient, and liberating.
